Water System Improvements

The Village of East Hazel Crest is pleased to announce a project to perform needed maintenance and replacement work on the drinking water distribution system in town.  The Lathrop Avenue water main will be replaced from 175th Street to north of 172nd Street, all water meters will be replaced, and fire hydrants and valves will be replaced as needed throughout the Village.  The project will reduce maintenance costs for the Village and ensure proper operation of the water system for years to come.  Please contact the Village Hall for more information.

The work to replace the water services will be wholly financed by the Water Pollution Control Loan Program through the State Revolving Fund (SRF).  The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  The predicted $1,145,173 cost of the project will be funded by the SRF program as part of a low interest loan, with some of the loan receiving principal forgiveness.  SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.
