Branch Pickup
The Village conducts a monthly branch pickup from May through
November, on the following days.
May 7
June 4
July 2
August 6
September 3
October 1
November 5
The branches are
to be bundled, no longer than eight feet and no wider than six inches.
You must have the branches out the weekend before pickup or you will be
passed by. The Village property maintenance code prohibits placement of
branches prior to pickup. If you place your branches out before the
beginning of the month, you will be given a citation.
The Village will also pickup branches following storms that generate
lighting and winds in excess of 35 miles per hour.
The Village will not pickup whole trees, shrubs, evergreens, grass clippings
and leaves. We do offer options for these items. Please call 798-0213 or
798-2017 and we will be happy to offer you assistance as to how and where
to discard these items.
Pump Station
This is a state of the art pumping station with four pumps, chlorination system, and an automatic generator to power the station in case of power failure. The entire system is computer-controlled and automated.
The new reservoir holds approximately 1 million gallons of water, which can supply the village for several days in case of emergency.
This new pump station and reservoir currently serve the east side of town. The 171st St. construction project also includes a water main to connect the west side of town to this new station.
Once this is finished, the entire town will be serviced by the new station unlike now, with the new station serving the east side and the west side being serviced by Hazel Crest.
171st St. Construction Project
171st Street is now closed between Wood St. and Ashland Ave. for resurfacing and road improvements, including lowering the road so trucks can pass without getting stuck and improving drainage through the viaducts. The road will remain closed approximately through November.

Water Department
Water conservation starts at home. During the summer months (May 15th through
September 15th) it is prohibited for anyone to use water for outdoor use between
11:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M.
Water bill high? Ninty percent of high water bills come from leaking toilets. If all
the water is off in the building then check the leak detector on top of the
meter. If it is moving then you have a leak. Call Public Works in assisting
you solving the problem. If you do not have an updated meter with a leak detector
on it, call the Village Hall or Public Works to set up an appointment to change it.
There is no cost to you changing the meter.
Sewer Problems
If you experience a sewer backup, call the Village Hall or Public Works during normal
hours and we will check our mains. If there is no problem in our system, we will notify
you and inform you on what should be done next. If this is an after hours emergency then
call the Police non-emergency phone number.
Building Department
It is wise to protect your investments, so don't let your house go to waste. Property
maintenance is the first key to maintaining the value of your home. If you are facing minor
problems with your home, correct them now before they become a major problem. The Village
has inspectors checking to make sure that everyone complies with the codes. Don't let a small
problem grow to a major headache. If you have questions please call and we will assist you.
