Branch Pickup

The dates for 2010 are (May 3rd, June 7th, July 5th, August 2nd, September 7th, October 4th, and November 1st). The branches are to be bundled, no longer than 10 feet and no wider than 6 inches. We will no longer pick up any branches that are not bundled. You must have the branches out the weekend before the pick up date or you will be passed by. The Village property maintenance code prohibits placement of branches prior to the weekend before pick up. If your branches are out before the weekend of pickup, you can be cited for violating the maintenance code.

We will continue to pick up branches that fall due to excessive winds (35 MPH or more) and by lightning strikes. We will not pick up whole trees, shrubs, evergreens, pine tree branches, grass clippings, and leaves. We do offer options for these items. Please call 798-0213 or 798-2017 and we will be happy to offer you assistance as to how and where to discard these items.

Pump Station

This is a state of the art pumping station with four pumps, chlorination system, and an automatic generator to power the station in case of power failure. The entire system is computer-controlled and automated. The new reservoir holds approximately 1 million gallons of water, which can supply the village for several days in case of emergency. This new pump station and reservoir currently serve the east side of town. The 171st St. construction project also includes a water main to connect the west side of town to this new station. Once this is finished, the entire town will be serviced by the new station unlike now, with the new station serving the east side and the west side being serviced by Hazel Crest.

Water Department

Water conservation starts at home. During the summer months (May 15th through September 15th) it is prohibited for anyone to use water for outdoor use between 11:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. Water bill high? Ninty percent of high water bills come from leaking toilets. If all the water is off in the building then check the leak detector on top of the meter. If it is moving then you have a leak. Call Public Works in assisting you solving the problem. If you do not have an updated meter with a leak detector on it, call the Village Hall or Public Works to set up an appointment to change it. There is no cost to you changing the meter.

Sewer Problems

If you experience a sewer backup, call the Village Hall or Public Works during normal hours and we will check our mains. If there is no problem in our system, we will notify you and inform you on what should be done next. If this is an after hours emergency then call the Police non-emergency phone number.
